A Look At Ourselves

Dover Lodge LogoWe at Dover Lodge recently conducted an anonymous survey of our active members that are a part of our online community. Our desire was to determine what our Brethren value about their Masonic experience, and how they feel they contribute to the atmosphere that is Dover Lodge. What follows are the results of that poll, with the top 3 responses in each category. Our hope is that this gives visitors to our web site a feeling for what it’s like to be a member of, or to visit, Dover Lodge:

Question #1 was open to multiple selections: What aspects of your experience at Dover Lodge are most important to you?

  1. 92% said “Further Masonic Education”
  2. 77% said “The spiritual connection with diverse Brethren”
  3. 69% said “The opportunity to socialize”

Question #2 was multiple choice: How many meetings per month would you like to see at Lodge?

  1. 70% said “2”
  2. 23% said “3”
  3. 7% said “1”

Question #3 asked to what level the participant agreed with the following statement: “I get something out of Lodge every time we meet”

  1. 85% said they strongly agreed
  2. 15% said they somewhat agreed
  3. 0% said they were neutral, somewhat disagreed or strongly disagreed

Question #4 asked to what level the participant agreed with the following statement: “I feel that I give of myself to Dover Lodge”

  1. 54% said they strongly agreed
  2. 24% said they somewhat agreed
  3. 22% said they were either neutral or somewhat disagreed

Question #5 asked to what level the participant agreed with the following statement: “I believe that the future of Dover Lodge is a positive one”

  1. 70% said that they strongly agreed
  2. 30% said that they somewhat agreed
  3. 0% said they were neutral, somewhat disagreed or strongly disagreed

Question #6 asked to what level the participant agreed with the following statement: “The elected and appointed leadership of Dover Lodge care about my Masonic growth”

  1. 85% said that they strongly agreed
  2. 15% said that they somewhat agreed
  3. 0% said that they were neutral, somewhat disagreed oor strongly disagreed

Question #7 asked: “Do you feel that Dover Lodge practices Masonry in a unique way as compared to other Lodges?”

  1. 81% said “yes”
  2. 17% said “I have not visited other Lodges”
  3. 0% said “no”, and one Brother said they’d prefer not to answer

Question #8 was a free-form solicitation of “What changes do you feel could be made that would result in a more positive experience at Dover Lodge?”

  1. 46% commented to the effect that the Brethren need to continue or enhance their commitment to Dover Lodge and “Observant Masonry“.
  2. 31% commented to the effect that Dover Lodge is on a good track; that no immediate changes are needed, and that adjustments will be made as the Lodge continues to evolve.
  3. 15% commented concerning logistical improvements, such as finances and attire of attending Brethren
