Becoming a Freemason matters today because the world is in desperate need of men who choose character over convenience, unity over division, and service over self-interest. Freemasonry calls men to grow inwardly while acting outwardly by strengthening families, communities, and civic life through integrity, compassion, and responsibility. In an age of noise and fragmentation, the Craft offers something rare and essential: a timeless path for men to become better, together.

A man is never asked to become a Freemason of Dover Lodge because the journey must begin with a calling from within. Freemasonry is not a club to be recruited into, but a path of personal growth, service, and self-discovery that requires free will and sincere intent. When a man chooses to knock of his own accord, it reflects a deeper readiness: a desire to better himself, to serve others, and to take responsibility for the kind of man he wishes to become. That inward calling ensures that membership is not given, but earned, and that the bonds formed within Dover Lodge are rooted in purpose, commitment, and genuine transformation.

To join Dover Lodge, you must be 19 years of age and a resident of the State of Ohio for at least 6 months. You will be required to profess a belief in a Supreme Being as part of your eligibility. A background check will be required for all petitioners of the Lodge, and at least two in-person interviews will be required prior to balloting on your membership. A successful ballot for membership is unanimous – no man is admitted into any Masonic Lodge worldwide if even one person objects to his admission.
