The End of the World?

NibiruFor several years now the Internet and television screens have been flooded with apocalyptic visions related to December 21st 2012. Much of this sensational material has been based on the now-legendary Mayan Calendar. Is it true that the calendar is coming to an end? Are we about to experience catastrophe on a global scale? What were the ancient Mayans trying to tell us about the age in which we currently live?

Is everything about to change?

Come join the Brethren of Dover Lodge on Thursday December 20th 2012 at 7:30pm, as we embark on a learning quest concerning the Mayan Calendar and the prophecies of doom. All regular Masons are invited to attend! Please RSVP here or contact any Dover Lodge member via Facebook (so that we prepare enough refreshment for you). Lodge will be opened as a Special Meeting, but the Worshipful Master has called for business casual dress for your learning comfort.

As we stand on the brink of that day which has caused deepest concern for so many, what will we find in our study? Could this be our last chance to meet together as Brethren?

Business casual dress requires slacks and a collared shirt at the bare minimum.

August Imgard

treeIn the year 1847, the small village of Wooster Ohio was experiencing its usual white and wintry weather as the month of December slowly plodded its way out. Scarcely 40 years old, this village named for General David Wooster was but a shadow of the 25,000-strong city that it is today.

During those quiet days, a young 19-year-old German immigrant closed his tailoring business and made his way home through the tiny streets of this little village. The Christmas Holiday was on its way, and this young man was troubled. He had been in Wooster for some time and found himself longing for the warm familiarity of his childhood home. It is difficult to say what was on his mind as he lay down to rest that night, or how many days he had pondered a growing idea.

Finally a day dawned, and this young man took action. Continue Reading

139th Annual Installation

SquareCompassesChange is coming to Dover Lodge! Earlier this month, the Brethren of Dover Lodge held their annual meeting and elected a new slate of officers for the 2013 Masonic Year. In celebration of these newly-elected and appointed officers, Dover Lodge is holding its 139th Annual Installation ceremony on Saturday December 8th 2012 at 7:30pm. Brother Masons, their families, and their friends are invited to witness the ceremony. It will be held at Westlake Masonic Temple, located at 29500 Center Ridge Road in Westlake Ohio.

Every November Masonic Lodges under the Grand Lodge of Ohio hold an election of officers. After being elected by anonymous vote the Worshipful Master-elect then appoints several Brethren to various positions of office within the Lodge. These elected and appointed officers are then “installed” (officially activated in their duties) in a meeting following the election. This “Installation Meeting” can either be a private or a public one.

If you can come out and join us, we’d love to have you! If your schedule does not permit, then check back on our web site for the list of new officers. Either way, Masonic Year 2013 promises to be an exciting one for Dover Lodge!

A Matter of the Universe

Since childhood, we’ve all likely been taught that the sun is a star at the center of our solar system, and gives its light and heat by means of a continuous nuclear fusion reaction. We’ve been taught that all of the planets orbit the sun due to the gravitational pull that such a large body exerts, including the amazing comets – dazzling bodies made of ice and debris that streak through the night sky. We marvel at descriptions of the sinister bodies known as “black holes”, whose gravity is so strong that not even light can escape them. We are dazzled by the brilliance of novae and supernovae, which we are told consist of the remains of exploded stars, and are reminded by their beauty that one day our sun too will cease to exist in the same violent and spectacular manner.

But what if all of that is wrong?

What if there is a scientifically verifiable model of the universe that not only turns all of that on its head, but explains the mysterious cave drawings found all over our planet, and can account for ancient mythologies of warring gods and peculiar crowns?

Come to Dover Lodge on Thursday October 18th at 7:30pm for our monthly Builders’ Night, and learn about this model that not only explains those things outlined above, but is supported by a fast-growing number of scientists. This model promises to change everything you think you know about the universe!

Perhaps “science” and “mythology” aren’t so far apart…

RSVPs to any member of Dover Lodge appreciated, so that we can prepare refreshment!
