Freemasonry and the Nazi Propaganda Engine

Brethren, please join us on Thursday March 31st at 7:30pm for an education session entitled “Freemasonry and the Nazi Propaganda Engine”. We will be hosting a Lodge room screening of a major anti-Masonic propaganda film used by the Nazi Party against Freemasonry. The screening will be followed by a round-table discussion concerning anti-Masonry prior to the 21st century and the implications for today’s Freemason.

This session is open only to regularly initiated Freemasons from any Lodge. Please bring a dues card or accompany a Brother who can vouch for your regularity. Refreshments will be served.

R.W. Brother Ronald M. Bentley

Dover Lodge extends it’s condolences to the friends, family and Brethren of Right Worshipful Brother Ronald M. Bentley. RWBro. Bentley passed to the Celestial Lodge above on Thursday March 3 2011. He is a Past Master of Augusta Lodge #504, a plural member of Carroll Lodge #124, a York Rite Mason, a Scottish Rite Mason in the Valley of Canton, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He also was in his second year as District Deputy Grand Master in the 24th Masonic District of Ohio.

Although his working tools have grown silent, let the echo of his good works to Our Fraternity resound through ages yet to come. Rest well, Right Worshipful.

Solemn strikes the funeral chime,
Notes of our departing time;
As we journey here below.
Through a pilgrimage of woe!

Mortals, now indulge a tear,
For mortality is here!
See how wide her trophies wave
O’er the slumbers of the grave!

Here another guest we bring,
Seraphs of celestial wing,
To our funeral altar come,
Waft this friend and brother home.

Lord of all! Below – above –
Fill our hearts with truth and love;
When dissolves our earthly tie,
Take us to Thy Lodge on high.

Get Your Can To Lodge!

Freemasonry has been defined as “A unique system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols”. If it were possible to fit so much meaning into so small a container, this might be considered the most true one-sentence description of what we are. The purpose of Freemasonry is not to exist as a social club, a public work, a social network, or a charity. Nonetheless charity is a duty incumbent upon all Masons as a part of our unique system of morality.

It is with this in mind that the Worshipful Master is pleased to announce the Dover Lodge “Get Your Can To Lodge” program for 2011. We are partnering with the Westlake Food Cupboard in an effort to help gather food for those most in need in our local community.

How can you participate? Every time you come to Lodge, bring a can of food or a personal hygeine item and place it in the collection box outside of the Lodge Room door. Preferred items are canned fruit, jellies/jams, shampoo, conditioner and deodorant in new and undamaged/unopened containers. Any other food or personal hygeine items will also gladly be accepted. All items should be non-expired and something that our community would be glad to receive as a part of our charitable offering.

On a monthly basis, Dover Lodge will take the donations to the Westlake Food Cupboard. These valuable gifts will then be distributed to those in need right within our local community.

Many men come to our doors hungry for the Light in Masonry – some cannot come to our doors at all because they are hungry for food. Let’s help our community by this simple act of generosity.

So what are you waiting for, a written invitation? Get Your Can To Lodge!!!

Secrets of a Fellowcraft

Brethren, the Worshipful Master has called a special meeting for Thursday February 17 2011 at 7:30p sharp for the conferral of the Fellowcraft Degree on a newly-proficient Brother! Please come out and join your Lodge as we pass this worthy Brother to the next stage of his Masonic journey. Your presence will encourage our young Brother to strive for loftier heights in our Mysteries!

Your Worshipful Master has often spoken of the profound beauty and depth of meaning veiled within the Fellowcraft Degree. Far too frequently as young Entered Apprentices seeking the highest of Masonic Degrees, we tend to make the critical mistake of rushing past the Fellowcraft Degree in hopes of hurrying to the 3rd. This is not how Dover Lodge does Masonry, and your presence will encourage our young Brother to linger in the warm glow of the rich teachings that we are about to impart. Come be a part of it – your Mother Lodge is calling you…
