Educating for Service

Dover Lodge #489 took a new step in combining our long standing tradition of education with community service! This morning, July 12th at 9:00am, Dover Lodge hosted testing that will result in fifteen men and women receiving their FCC Amateur Radio (Ham Radio) License!

Ham Radio has had a very long history of helping our communities in times of crisis! From hurricane relief with the Red Cross to emergency communications for communities in need, Ham radio has served our country for over 100 years!

Freemasonry and Ham Radio are a perfect blend of education and action that enables our brethren and our community to contribute to the service of humanity! Even during challenging times, Dover Lodge is still working hard to make good men and their communities better!

Why Dover Lodge?

Many men seek the Light of Freemasonry, and quickly find that The Craft is truly thriving in the State of Ohio. The seeker of Masonic wisdom and initiation suddenly finds himself confronted with a glorious problem: which Lodge is right for me? Truly every Lodge is different in its character and mission. At Dover Lodge #489, our goal is to be a deeply educational and esoteric body that fosters profound Masonic growth.

To wit, the excerpt below was penned by W.L. Wilmshurst in the early 1900s. Our Brother was a past Grand Lodge Officer in the United Grand Lodge of England. His expression of what is needed in Freemasonry reflects beautifully the mission of Dover Lodge. Why join us? Read on as our Brother explains…

“No more needed and useful work is to be done in the Masonic Order to-day than the education of its members in the true purpose of rites of initiation, that they may the better appreciate the reason, the importance, and the seriousness, of the work the Order was designed to achieve.

Candidate Appreciation Barbecue

Today at 6:00pm is our Dover Lodge Candidate Appreciation Barbecue! We have invited all Dover Lodge petitioners and Brethren who have not yet reached the degree of Master Mason to join us for a cookout and fellowship at Lodge. There will be two education sessions: one that gives an overview of all of the bodies of Freemasonry, and another that shares what one can expect to receive from their dedication to our Craft.

Cigars, fine libations, and the joy of our Royal Art will take us well into the night. See you there Brethren!
